Solar eclipse: Skies darken over Chile and Argentina at start of rare total eclipse

A solar eclipse has darkened the skies over northern Chile. Tens of thousands of people have flocked to cities and towns across the region to witness the total eclipse, which began at 10.24am local time. Chile and Argentina are the only places that the eclipse will be seen aside from an uninhabited island out in the ocean.
